Speech, spelling and meaning are bonded as the user listens to the word and first plays it using speech sounds with the Phonemies (Speech Sound Monsters®), then sees the corresponding graphemes. The phonemes, graphemes and meaning are made explicit. If a child has strong phonemic awareness, this is often enough for the word to be stored.
